Physical Health Quests

This is a hub page for Quests that emphasize physical health.

There are two types of Physical Health Quests: Fit Quests and Food Quests. Physical Health Quests are meant to encourage healthy activities and healthy eating habits. The point is not to keep you from eating candy bars or Twinkies, or imply that you should have six-pack abs and lose weight - although it's totally acceptable if that happens to be your personal goal.

The name of the game here is balance and moderation; the idea isn't to shame people into adopting an aggressive workout plan or to start dieting. In fact, that is exactly the opposite of what the game is supposed to do. Aggressive workouts and diets are short term fixes and usually do more harm than good because they aren't sustainable over time. The point is to make players more aware of the choices they make every day and offer an incentive to fit exercise and good food choices into their day in ways that are easy and tenable for the long term so that their daily behavior is more healthy overall.

As an example, assume a player is at work and planning to go up the street a few blocks to get some take-out for lunch. If they walk instead of driving and pick a vegan menu option they might not have tried otherwise - instead of, say, a beef burrito the size of a small baby - they will have managed to fit in a 30 minute walk (a Level One Fit Quest) and a little extra vegetables and fiber from a vegan meal (a Level Two Food Quest) they might not otherwise have had that day. They can always have that beef-baby burrito tomorrow :)
